The Global Solutions Initiative/GIZ Cooperation

The partnership between the Global Solutions Initiative (GSI) and the "Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is an effort to advance the circular economy agenda globally through a series of "Circular Economy Solutions Dialogues". They promote a discussion on existing, scalable, innovative solutions to devise context-sensitive strategies for their broad implementation and bring together high-level circular economy global experts to act as a catalyst and amplify related messages.

The Global Solutions Initiative is a joint global enterprise made up of a network of international think tanks. The GSI proposes policy responses to major global issues addressed by the G20, G7 and other global political fora. Doing so, the GSI provides research-based policy advice to help governments address the major global challenges of the G20 and beyond. The initiative was established during Germany's 2017 G20 presidency. It offers stakeholders a steppingstone to bring their issues and solution approaches to the T20 and G20 summits.

The cooperation between GIZ and GSI is on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV). It enables the experiences, and successful environmental technology approaches gained from the global project "Export Initiative Environmental Protection" to be placed on the international political agenda. In return, valuable practical experiences of the actors in the country modules Thailand, Malaysia, India, Egypt, Jordan and Ukraine can underpin and verify the dialogue results of the GSI using concrete case studies and practical knowledge.
