Launch of the Global Action Partnership for Extended Producer Responsibility

Join on October 19, 2023, 2pm-4pm CEST for the launch of the Global Action Partnership for Extended Producer Responsibility (GAP for EPR)! The GAP for EPR is a collaboration between WWF, OECD, and GIZ, with circular economy support from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, and hosted by the PREVENT Waste Alliance to advance EPR systems worldwide.

During the online launch event, we would like to celebrate this new partnership and the platform for collaboration that it provides! We will present the rationale for the GAP for EPR, as well as its activities and options for engagement. We will also hear from a diverse group of practitioners and discuss the challenges they are facing in their efforts to implement and operate EPR and how the GAP for EPR could best address them.

In summary, the launch will entail:

• An introduction to EPR, including the challenges, opportunities and assistance needed
• The GAP for EPR, our motivations, goals, and offers
• A panel discussion on the challenges our panelists are facing in their efforts to implement and operate EPR schemes
• How to get involved, a discussion on how the GAP for EPR could best address these challenges

The “GAP for EPR” aims to create a common understanding on EPR, support countries on EPR development, as well as build a community of practice which facilitates the sharing of best practices and lessons learned. The GAP will initially focus on packaging and plastic products, but in the future, it can extend to other product categories
