Organic Waste Key Visual

Organic waste is one of the most significant parts of the waste management system worldwide, even though it has enormous potential: if organic waste can be adequately recycled, it is a resource for energy production and for the return of fertilisers previously extracted from the soil. Furthermore, the waste sector is one of the three most important sectors that emit methane - after agriculture and the oil and gas industry - and is responsible for around 20 per cent of human-made methane emissions worldwide. The correct treatment of organic waste therefore reduces greenhouse gas emissions. More and more efforts are being made around the world to utilise the potential of organic waste, whether in high-tech biogas plants or in home composting.

With the webinar series we aim to engage the international organic waste community, including political partners, scientists, entrepreneurs as well as our members of the Community of Practice (so far 360 members in the COP Organic Waste Management) to showcase the potentials of the utilization of organic waste and discuss challenges and obstacles in the implementation.

Join us for a dynamic series of four webinars running from April to September 2024. Each session will delve into a distinct theme, featuring 2-3 expert speakers from the field, followed by interactive audience discussions.
